Matt Stewart

Matt Stewart joined KCTV5 News in August 2004 and serves as a reporter and weekend news anchor.

He began his career as a photographer at WOWT-TV in Omaha. Before coming to Kansas City, he gained valuable reporting and anchoring experience at KCAU-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, KHGI-TV in Kearney, Neb., and WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio.

Matt has collected several awards for his reporting along the way, including Associated Press honors in both Nebraska and Ohio. He also received Emmy recognition for spot news reporting by the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.

Matt is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. While there, he played strong safety and helped the Wildcats football team win the Big Ten Championship two years in a row. Matt also earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 1997.

When he’s not working, Matt and his wife, Christina, spend time with their sons, Jackson and Alex, and their dog, Sweetie.
